I am going to sound really cynical (my biggest fault) about this but the members of this site donated quite a bit of money towards it this year alone. It's a shame to see the change since we donated over $600 towards the maintenance of USMCHangout.com since the first of the year. I know you are doing right, it just seems like $600 doesn't go as far as it used to in web maintenance.

I don't have a problem with it, Bridget. Whatever you need to do! As you say, the only difference will be that the link we click for forums will bring us to the other site for our same forums and that the rest of this site will still be here, as well, correct?

I'm not sure I quiet understand it, but basicly USMCHangout wont be a seperate entity anymore because the members those other sites didn't donate enough/any money to make those float, so us that donated are keeping them going too. Does that make us.....will we see....is there.....$___ is $528 towards.......and we get roses????..................recipes..........new skivvies, with one waist hole, and one leg hole?????......choice between camo and pink??????
See, I get confused when it doesnt just plug in and you push a button and wa-lla you get instant toast.
So at tell us that it is at least really helping a slice of america by supporting those other sites, because if its not then the hangouts resources are being thinned for ?
Somebody has to ask the hard questions. Does it change us over to a different site status? Racing, your blog, non military centered? Will it increase or decreas our web traffic (yes I watch those numbers on a daily basis,

Then there's "Family business", do we get lost in the shuffle?
Creepy like, it's like were not under one roof anymore.......Ya know I love you Bridget, it's just us old guys with clouded minds get all scared when they get ready to expand the old fogey's home and I didn't see it coming.
All in all, I guess if it's gonna be 3 sites, we have to roll the dice and see if "we" (it's just you and I , for just a second or 2 Bridget) can triple the donations brought in, as I under stand it from several directions.

I am glad I am not the only one that feels we may be supporting other sites to keep them afloat. These are good questions, Guide. I guess I just didn't want to be as direct but I appreciate your directness.

It's alright Bridget. I am disappointed but I understand. I know how hard it is to run a site. But you have to be able to see it from all points of view and I think, for me, it was just a matter of a little clarification. I have no idea if you were getting donations from the other sites and you may very well have. I do know you received donations from this site so that's why I questioned it.

For the record, not everyone on this site is accusing you of anything. I will take the heat if you feel that the tone was me accusing you of using the money donated from this site to support the others. I started it and I insinuated it, I own it. I am fine with whatever you decide to do with my account. I don't want to ruin an entire website because I have a different view of things. I certainly wouldn't want you to ruin your marriage over a website.

Maybe instead of ending the site, you should offer the domain to one of the members with content for a price. I am not in the position of owning the site or the licenses for the forum but that doesn't mean someone else here might not be interested. Just a thought to relieve the stress for you and your family.

She's not going to end it, nor is the site itself going to be moved. The only thing that will be moving, is the forums will be integrated with the forums on the other two sites. The only change you will see on here, is when you click on "forums" you will be redirected to a main forums site, hosted by a different server. This will save Bridget money and allow her to continue to operate this site along with the other two. It's still going to cost her money for this site, which is what the donations are for, as she is still going to have everything else still on here. The only change you will actually see, is that the forums will include all the forums from all 3 sites in one. Don't worry ~ we're not going anywhere Bridget needs to move things around just a little bit, so that things are easier for her to manage and the out of pocket expenses that she has, aside from the donations, aren't burdening her and her family. Bear with her, she loves you guys and she's trying to keep everyone happy. She's done a great job of keeping this site up and running, when she could of called it quits a long time ago. Have some faith in her ~ this site has been with her a long time and she doesn't want to let it go anymore then you all don't want to see it go. Now lets have a group !!
